Calgary



Introduction:
Calgary lies in the south of Alberta Province in Canada. Calgary is well-known as a destination for winter sports and ecotourism and possesses a number of major mountain resorts. Calgary's economy is mostly centered on the petroleum industry, agriculture and tourism. High-tech industries also contribute to the city's rapid economic growth.

Calgary holds many annual festivals, such as Calgary Stampede, the Folk Music Festival, the Lilac Festival, and the world's second largest Caribbean festival called Carifest. Calgary is also was the first Canadian city to host The Winter Olympic Games, which it did in 1998. Residents of Calgary are known as Calgarians. Calgary has a typical Canadian climate with relatively cold winters and short, cool summers.
